Validators

A passenger brings their card to the validator after which the fare amount is charged from their account, and a ticket printed. Data on all transactions are transferred via GSM in real time. Validator-conducted payments do not require PIN so any transaction is a matter of a few seconds. This is how validators can be a panacea for those long lines at times of high passenger flows.

Mobile POS terminals

All fare inspectors will be equipped with POS card readers to accept payments by card. We support this modern and handy method and allow magnetic-stripe cards, chip cards, and contactless payment cards. Apart from bank cards, our terminals support other contactless payment-enabled devices: watches, wristbands, or smartphones with Apply Pay, Samsung Pay, or Android Pay on board. Using terminals in vehicles helps put aside ticket coils and print tickets on the reader itself.

RetailBUD Advantages

All information in accordance with Law

Every ticket contains all required information in accordance with the Law

Mandatory details:

  • ticket name & serial number
  • ticket issuer name
  • vehicle type
  • ticket price

Beside mandatory details, a carrier may add more fields. To allow that, the software has a print form template editor.

All tickets are uploaded for processing and storage of electronic receipt images to digital archive e-slip, online and automatically.

    Internal workflow analytics

RetailBUD is an all-in-one tool that helps efficiently manage passenger transportation companies, namely, implement new payment methods, automate reporting, analyze staff/vehicle/route performance, and increase revenue.

    New fare payment methods

Cashless payments are used in public transit throughout the world. This is not surprising as it's way handier to pay for fares with a bank card or smartphone than by cash. Introducing RetailBUD to your enterprise, you get new payment options: bank card, e-pass, NFC-enabled device, QR code. As a result, you let your passengers choose and passengers take advantage of the payment method they find the most convenient for them.

    Passenger personal account

One of the building blocks of our solution is a state-of-the-art website with a passenger personal account that you will get absolutely free. In the personal account, every passenger can view the statistics of their fairs or top-up their e-pass. If you already have a corporate website, the personal account can be embedded into your existing resource. Also, users can enjoy the functions of the personal account in the free mobile app.

    Payment collectability

By implementing the ERP system, automating the workflow, and introducing new payment options, you will significantly improve payment collectability due to reduced staff fraud and abuse. Our experience shows that the carrier may see up to 15% revenue growth.

    No fare inspectors

Cashless payments give a carrier the green light to reduce or work without fare inspectors, which entails payroll savings. With that, the carrier still accepts payments by cash to remain compliant with Law.

To pay by cash, passengers get in the vehicle through the front door, paying for fares to the driver. Passengers using cashless payments can get in through other doors and pay for fares at the validators inside.

    Carrier personal account

    High-grade in-vehicle analytics

RetailBUD cloud-based carrier account helps manage several entities. With our service, a carrier owner can track and analyze transactions (both cash and cashless), view revenue statistics by staff/vehicle/route, manage shifts, organize and automate reporting, interact with passengers, introduce e-passes, payments by QR code, etc. The personal account is extremely user-friendly and requires no specific knowledge or skills.

    Enterprise, in full view

The enterprise's home page contains brief info on recent transactions, route list, staff list, fleet list, and POS card reader list. The list of recents transactions shows cash and cashless transactions across all the routes served. To ensure navigation and transaction search convenience, the table offers a filter helping find one or several transactions based on specific parameters.

Routes tab shows the list of all the routes served by the carrier. For convenient navigation, RetailBUG allows grouping routes by vehicle type (e.g. bus, trolley bus, trolley, etc.). Beside the vehicle type, route number and fare amount are shown.

Staff tab shows the list of fare inspectors and drivers, with the specification of full names and IDs. Data on all employees added to RetailBUD are automatically uploaded to POS card reader software.

Vehicles tab shows all vehicles of the carrier. For every vehicle, its current status, plate number or garage ID are shown.

Terminals tab shows the list of all POS terminals connected to the system. The table displays the card reader photo, model, and date of installation. Besides, the table shows the card reader's current status which helps realize if it is in operation or not.

    Full enterprise statistics

Every employee, route, vehicle, and terminal has its dedicated page in RetailBUD. This page shows detailed information on the company's revenue received from a specific employee/route/vehicle/terminal every month. Beside the overall monthly amount, the page shows the number and amount of cash and cashless transactions.

Also, the internal page shows the revenue chart reflecting the revenue for the current and previous months. This helps timely identify profit shortfalls and find out their reasons.

These pages help not only view the profit stats but also search for transactions based on various filtering parameters. Example: by employee, by ticket ID, by transaction type, by terminal model, by date, etc.

    Shift management

The primary purpose of shifts is standardizing the procedure for receiving funds raised during a shift, and automate reporting. A proper mechanism for receiving funds from fare inspectors also reduces fraud among the company staff.

At the beginning of the day, a fare inspector (or driver) starts the shift on the terminal. At this moment, the shift is started in the carrier personal account. At the end of the day, the fair inspector (or driver) ends the shift on the terminal, and data on the number of tickets and revenue amount are shown in the carrier personal account. The company's cashier needs to check the cash in the fare inspector's bag against the system data and then print the report.

    Automated reporting

Reporting is an essential element of any carrier's activity. However, companies often face some difficulties creating revenue reports. When creating reports manually or with the use of Excel or similar programs, one cannot ensure full reliability of data as there is always a risk of data forgery.

In RetailBUD carrier personal account, data for all reports are automatically transferred to the system so the cashier cannot modify them. The only thing that the cashier can do is select primary data: legal entity, date, and employee. After that, the report is generated and prepared for printing.

    Analytics by transaction

In the transactions section, the user can view data on all transactions from all POS card readers. In this section, employees can easily find a specific transaction or create a transaction list based on specific parameters.

Transactions can be searched with the use of various filters (transaction date, terminal model, route ID, employee, vehicle, amount, transaction status, etc.). After the report is created, the results can be saved as .XLS (Excel).

    Transaction processing

RetailBUD exploits a hybrid model that allows the highest possible efficiency of transaction processing and fraud prevention.

In normal conditions, the terminal processes transactions online. In case of any connection problems, the terminal continues to accept payments by card and uploads all the transactions to the server once the connection is restored (delayed online processing).

If the passenger paid by card with a negative balance at the moment when the terminal was offline, such a transaction will be listed in Delayed Transactions. After that, the system will try to charge the funds from the card of that passenger every day until it succeeds.

    Passenger statistics

Passengers section accumulates data on all passengers registered in the system. Every passenger has a page which contains its contact details (phone, email), and the list of all rides. In case of a problem or dispute, employees can contact the passenger to resolve the situation.
