Non-cash payments in public transport of the Kamensk-Uralsky city

MST Company took part in the public transport project in Kamensk-Uralsky city (Russia). The buses were equipped with payment terminals which accepts credit cards. This is modern and convenience solution will allow to buy tickets easier, just need to put your credit card on the credit card terminal. Besides credit cards, these terminals support NFC technology and customers have a chance to pay by their smart-watch, smart-bands, Smartphones with Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Android Pay.

The price for payment by credit card is 20 rubles. It is important to note that now this option is really popular among Kamensk-Uralsky citizens.

The main goal of this project was to achieve fast payment authorization. It means that ticket-inspector will have enough time even during peak hours. Moreover, frequently payment by credit card is faster than by cash.

Our task was to provide convenience using of card terminals. In couple with Transport Company we have designed carrying cases for Ingenico iwl 220 which allows to charge terminal without removing it from the carrying case using charging base.

Usually, work day of public transport is about 12 hours, and ticket inspector have to charge terminal a few times every day. It was really important to find possibility of charging terminals directly in the bus. We proposed to set charging base in the bus with special car charger out-put. Charging was done in the end of every single route which affords to pos-terminals work all day.

Maxim Bornovolokov (MST Company’s CEO) noted that public transport provides transport’s flexibility and it is one of the most important infrastructures of every city. “The more flexible and smarter infrastructure is, the more convenience to use public transport”.
